Steve Hudon, 43, was in Moncton provincial court for a bail hearing Friday but instead waived it for the time being. He will be back in court May 13 to set a new bail hearing date.

Hudon was arrested after an armed robbery in Shediac. The RCMP said in a news release that on April 17, shortly after 3 a.m., they responded to a report of a robbery at a business on Main Street in the community. The robber told the clerk he had a gun and took a number of lottery scratch tickets before leaving on foot.

On April 23, members of the Shediac RCMP and the Southeast District Crime Reduction Unit arrested a 43-year-old man in connection with the investigation.

Hudon is charged with using a long gun to rob Harpreet Singh Dhillon of lottery tickets on April 17 and masking his face to commit the offence. The business is not named in the charge or the RCMP news release.

Hudon has other charges before the court including two counts of stealing from the Shediac Sobey’s on Feb. 12 and April 21. He and several other people are also charged with committing assault causing bodily harm on Colby Stewart on Nov. 29.
