The fall lobster fishery is set to open on Aug. 9. Fishermen are busy getting their boats and traps ready for the season. Early indications are that a few mackerel are being caught in the Escuminac area.

Thank you

Myer's UCW would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the local quilters who allowed their quilts to be displayed at the recent Quilt Show and Tea held on Saturday, July 19. Over 50 quilts plus quilting handicrafts were on display throughout the afternoon. This small church was brought to life through the stories of this wonderful display — what better place than a church to display the life of a quilting community? A thank you is extended to all those who traveled, near and far, to attend this annual event and to the workers who organized and worked this event. Your continued support of our small community church is greatly appreciated.

Flashback ‘78

I survived my 30 year high school reunion! What a weekend — approximately 90 people registered for the weekend events. From the Meet and Greet on Friday night to the closing brunch on Sunday morning, our reunion was a success! A thank you to all who traveled from near and far — last week I mentioned some of the locations across Canada where graduates traveled from and I forgot to mention the Northwest Territories. It was a great weekend to renew friendships and to make new friends.
