Puppies' plight shocking sight

I was shocked and saddened when I saw the photo of the puppies on the front page of the July 16 Leader. First of all, I want to thank Tom burns for investigating the four puppies in the van at the mall. It was without a doubt the Hand of God that led him to park beside the van with those dear little dogs suffering in it.

The mother of those dogs is very much in my thoughts. Is she still home, starving to death, or did she die already.

No-one in their right mind would do a thing like this. I thank Const. Andy McFarlane, too, for attending the scene and arresting the owner. I know he is very fond of dogs because I had occasion to talk to him one day when one of my puppies was reported by neighbour for barking and Const. McFarlane came to talk to me about it.

To the man who abused those dogs: how do you sleep at night (if you can)? It is too bad they didn't put your photo in the paper too. I just hope your punishment is fitting and teaches you the error of your ways.

The pups and the mother of the pups must be taken from the owner and the law must enforce a sentence whereby the owner would never be allowed to have pets again.

Perhaps the owner should be placed in a van in the sweltering heat and left to suffer for the same amount of time that the puppies were left unattended.
