JUNIOR HOCKEY — The Miramichi Timberwolves will be back in action at the Miramichi Civic Centre Saturday, Sept. 6.

The Maritime Junior A Hockey League team has announced the dates for three pre-season tune up games. The T-Wolves begin play Sept. 5 in Campellton, where they will take on the Restigouche Tigers. The next night they are back in Miramichi, playing host to the Summerside Western Capitals at 7:30 p.m.

Then on Monday, Sept. 8, the MCC will be home to more pre-season action as the Tigers are in town for another match-up at 7 p.m.

The regular season begins Sept. 13 but a schedule has not been released by the league. A final schedule has been delayed as the league waited to find out the fate of the Tigers.

Earlier this month the a group of business people who ran the city owned the team walked away leaving the future of the Tigers in question. A solution has been found to keep the team operating and a schedule is being finalized.

The Miramichi Timberwolves are coming off one of their best seasons in franchise history, finishing first in their division and second overall in the league.

The 2008-09 season will bring some new teams into MCC. The Halifax Wolverines have moved to Bridgewater to become the Lumberjacks. The Moncton Beavers made the short move to Dieppe to become the Commandos while the Antigonish Bulldogs moved to Halifax where a new team name and uniform has yet to be announced.

The Charlottetown Abbies, meanwhile, will take a leave of absence from the league.

Season tickets for the upcoming season are also now on sale. Adult packages are $190 while student and senior packages sell for $140.

Passes are available at Miramichi City Hall before the season begins or by calling 622-5075 (leave a message).
