United Girls win championship

YOUTH SOCCER — The Miramichi United Girls U-12 soccer club were the winners of the Northern Division 1 Conference Championship.

In the playoffs, the girls defeated Dalhousie by a score of 3-1 to get to the championship game. Goal scorer for Miramichi United was Monica Tremblay with a hat trick.

In the championship game, Miramichi United defeated Chaleur by a score of 2-1 in double overtime. Goal scorers were Hailee Cook, tying the game 1-1 in the final seconds of the first half, and Katie Corlett, scoring late in the double-overtime period with a penalty shot.

The girls then represented the region at provincials in Grand Falls, winning Game 1 against Grand Falls 6-1, losing to Riverview 1-6, losing to Fredericton 2-4 (who were defeated by Grand Falls 2-0), tying St. John 3-3 (who lost to Fredericton 2-0), and being defeated by Oromocto 0-1 with a goal scored late in the second half.
