
Carroll wins St. Margaret's tournament

GOLF — Teddy Carroll was the winner of the St. Margaret's Golf Club annual championship tournament held Aug. 23-24.
Chris MacLean had led the field after day one with Carroll and Edgar Daigle tied for second just one stroke behind. On the second day Carroll took over first place and went on to win the tournament for the fourth consecutive year. MacLean held on to second in the tournament while Daigle took third place.
T-Wolves holding tailgate party and barbecue
JUNIOR A HOCKEY — The Miramichi Timberwolves will kick off their regular season with a tailgate party and barbeque Sept. 13 at 12 p.m. outisde the Miramichi Civic Centre. Fans will have a chance to meet team officials and players as they prepare to open the season against the Truro Bearcats.
Canucks to honour Bourdon
NHL — The Vancouver Canucks are expected to pay tribute to the memory of Luc Bourdon at the team's home opener Oct. 9.
According to the team website team officials are asking fans to join them at GM Place prior to the 7:30 p.m. Start time for a pre-game ceremony that will include a video tribute to the former Canuck defencemen. It will be followed by a moment of silence.
Fans will also be given a commemorative pin in honour of the Miramichi Rivermen alum and players will have something added to their helmets for the remainder of the season.
